"Mm, but I want to see all parts of you," Aurelius purred, eyebrows raised as he looked Finn over, kicking blankets out of the way to crawl over his companion. "You can prod at me all you would like when we return to Taras, but right now there is a more important matter at hand." The Bear lowered himself, catching the Wolf's lips in a brief kiss before rising to his knees, gaze cast toward the windows.
He wasn't ready to leave this moment behind, but time stopped for no man, and he promised himself to create more moments like this with his dear Pup in the future. Even if they'd someday have to say goodbye, now was not that time. Aur's eyes flicked to the side, admiring how the light accentuated Finn's body.
"Come now, my love," he sighed, sliding out of the bed. "We should probably find a way to make ourselves more presentable before heading out." The warrior cast Finn a look of longing as he raised one hand under his nose to breathe in the scent of the dried blood of the Wolf that still lingered.
"Promises, promises," Finn growled beneath the King overhead, nipping at the man's lower lip when theirs parted from the brief exchange of kisses. He found he didn't particularly mind showing the man all of his hidden parts, though not much left there remained unseen, now. Not from the eyes of the King of Yhavastus who knew the Wolf Captain better than, perhaps, any in this world. But, he knew that man with the face like Adonis spoke the truth regarding their need to tend to matters currently within reach, a matter no one was ever prepared to face. He was glad he did not face this pain alone, however. His gaze tracing the curves and edges of the King's body when the man rose from the blankets. Nothing more left to the imagination, and oh how the Pirate's overactive one had still not been enough to do the form and...proportions...of that Bear justice.
My love. He liked the sound of that. Finn often referred to others with a moniker of 'love' or 'mate', but the two were interchangeable surely for the fact they held a similar meaning, but with the addition of 'my' to the 'love'. It changed the sound so entirely. So much more like music in his ears, now. My love. No one had ever referred to him in such a way before. Perhaps this was how barmaids felt when he'd flash them a wink and they'd scurry off giggling and red in the face. He'd always enjoyed causing such expressions, but now he was feeling the receiving end of the effects. Not that he was about to giggle like a giddy girl with a crush, mind you, but he could well comprehend the sentiment as he pushed himself from the tempting embrace of the bed beneath him. "Is my current outfit ill-suited?" Finn teased, standing from the bed in his stark state of undress to look himself over as if to locate just what could possibly be amiss regarding his "ensemble". "Perhaps you're right, darling," gathering his pants and any other salvageable clothing from the floor to return it to his person, though the shirt was gone for. He supposed he didn't need to, really, go all out for this occasion. It felt inappropriate. No, he'd settle for a loose white shirt and his pants. It wasn't often he opted for the ivory colors that were rather sparse among his attire, but for some reason the innocent color felt apropos for today's affairs.
"I feel...unprepared..." Finn admitted, kicking some broken items aside to find the bottle he'd been drinking from yesterday when Aur had burst into his quarters. It was on its side, having flown through the air to spill most of its contents in a puddle on the ground. Damn. Of all the broken items in here, nothing would ever be more tragic than wasted booze. Bending down to retrieve the container from the floor and inspecting what contents yet remained before a careless shrug was given and he swiftly downed the last of the sweet and spicy liquid, tossing the empty bottle aside as it clearly didn't matter if he added a bit more to the already wide ranging mess laid at his feet.

Aur's stare lingered, fingers pressed to his lips now. "Think of who we are going to see, Finneas," he reminded, finding it difficult to tear his gaze away.
"I have graduated from stupid bear to darling, have I?" Aurelius liked how it sounded coming from Finn - it encouraged his heart to beat a little harder. He bent over to retrieve his own garments, unable to recall how any of the articles of clothing had ended up in the places in which he found them. At least he remembered the most important parts of last night, heart beating a little harder to a lot harder. As he was dressing, he watched Finn sift through the aftermath of the tantrum, not having forgotten that, either.
"How could any man prepare for…" The Bear's face scrunched up. "For this?"
How much longer did Brigid have before the illness that has befallen her claims her completely? Aur wanted Finn to remain in Ziorang - he would stay with him as long as the pirate felt was appropriate, which the warrior guessed would be until the very end. Until goodbye.
Alvilda's advice echoed in his mind as he approached Finn, both of his hands taking hold of one of the other man's, lifting it to his brow. "You will not be alone." He closed his eyes, his eyelashes caressing the fingers he held so tenderly.
He'd almost forgotten the insults he'd hurled at his friend during his fit of rage, pausing before a large box located on one of his shelves to offer the King an apologetic wince that he'd ever said any of those things. Aurelius was a Bear, sure, and what a bear he was, but stupid? Not in the least bit. Finneas had known many people whose wisdoms never ceased to shock nor amaze him. Emerson, Lavinia, Freddy....his mother. But not least of which on that list of those whose words he admired and treasured was the King of Yhavastus. He could be childish in his wonderment and open with his feelings and curiosities, but he always seemed to speak as if his soul were decades beyond his own age. One of the kindest and most intelligent men the Pirate ever had the graced pleasure of meeting.
"Yes, well- it would seem you've earned a promotion for all the...hard work...you've been putting in," snickering behind the toothy grin he'd aimed in the direction of the Warrior as he turned his attentions back to the box that, once opened, displayed quite the variety of varying pieces of jewelry. The mismatched styles and sizes speaking volumes to the manner of which such trinkets had come into the Pirate's possession. Finn felt strange with nothing hanging from his neck any longer. He was riffling through the collection of varying baubles for any suitable replacement, pausing when his fingers curled around a very familiar shape. A necklace that bore a mermaid wielding a sword as its pendant. He could only snarl at the sight, recalling exactly who he'd obtained such a souvenir from. His old Captain. Why he kept the blighted thing in his precious little box of adornments he'd never know. Sentimentality perhaps. Immediately shoving the thing back into the contents to continue searching. "Oh-" His eyes lighting up like a child who'd just been gifted a sweet pastry, clearly having found whatever it was he'd been looking for. "Ems got me this beaut," Finn piped up, triumphantly holding up a thin chain from which a wolf's head hung, but not just of any design, the exact logo branded into the crimson sails of Finn's ship. Emerson had given it to him years ago, back when Finn had first placed that logo on his sails. He could still remember the older man's words upon handing the necklace to a younger Finneas. "Captain should always remember 'is first vessel. Tis a fine lady ye've acquired."
He felt so much better with a necklace once more hanging from his form, turning on his heel to show it off to Aurelius, but before he could speak a word he found the Bear upon him, his hands held in the other man's and pressed against the King's head in a gesture both chaste and incredibly intimate. Finn could feel his chest tighten at the sight, his heart flutter like the delicate wings of a hummingbird. "Aur..." the name a breath not unlike the way he'd spoken it the night prior. The Wolf bent forward, pressing his forehead to his friend's, the pain he'd been trying so desperately to ignore or hide behind layers of inappropriate humor now coating his features freely, lips pressed almost aggressively to the top of the King's head. "Thank you," Finn spoke in a soft voice, "I'm not sure- I don't think I could do this without you."

The way that Finn breathed his name was slowly destroying the king, like the kiss of the tide against a stony cliffside - eroding and smoothing the solid surface over time.
Aurelius opened his eyes when he felt the kiss against his forehead, brushing his lips over the rings that the pirate wore, eyes trailing the chain that lead down to the wolf-head pendant. As if in response to discovering it, Aur drew back to finger the doubloon that his dear friend had given to him, fully visible against the Bear's chest thanks to the revealing surcoat that he wore.
"Are you sure it is alright for me to have this? I know it means a great deal to you."
It had been given to Finn by his mother, Brigid - a sacred object that the Wolf captain had considered lucky, his mother's way of caring for him even though they were apart…
He already knew Finn's answer.
"It…is similar to the obsidian claw. My father passed it down to me, and he had received it from his father, who had received it from theirs, and so on. It symbolizes family and represents the unbreakable bond between father and son." There was a distant look in his eyes as he examined the charm around his neck. "He told me that I would know when to pass it on and to whom."
Those vibrant eyes like bursts of color amidst the black and white of the Wolf's overall appearance were calm and searching as they shifted between those crystal clear pools across from them. Scrutinizing the look in the King's gaze when his large hand enveloped the precious piece of metal worth far more to Finn than the entirety of the contents of that box he'd just searched through. There was no hesitation to the nod Finn offered Aurelius, placing his smaller palm against the back of the other man's hand and closing around both it and the Doubloon. "It does," he confirmed, "But you mean a great deal more and I shall sleep easier knowing it's with you." His hand rested against the side of Aur's face, a smile so soft and tender gracing the Pirate's lips. "That little thing has managed to keep my impulsive arse from the open flame more than a few times. Here's hopin' it'll watch after you too, love."
However, when Aurelius told him of the full meaning behind the item currently adding a fashionable flare to the cell made to house the wolf inside, Finn felt both his eyes widening. They'd only met that day and Aur had given him something so valuable? Something so important and coveted and tied it to those bars just to remind Finn he was not alone? The Pirate could barely believe his ears, flying from the room so quickly one might've thought those flames had finally reached the man's aft end, afterall. The door nearly whacked his first mate in the face, flying open so abruptly as the Captain proceeded down towards the bowels of his ship chased after by a rather indignant. "Oi!" from the disgruntled Emerson. "I know yeh the Cap' an' all but don't think I won' knock ya t'the ground just cause yeh got that wolf strength, boy!" Huffing when he realized his calls had fallen on deaf ears.
"The 'ell got int--" turning to speak with the King from Yhavastus but his words dwindled on his lips at the chaos and disarray within the Captain's private quarters. "Bloody feckin' hell," the older man sighed, running a hand down his face, "If he thinks for a damn and blasted minute any of uhs are cleanin' that up. 'e has got another thing comin' 'asn't he?" Shaking his head in a way that spoke volumes to the amount of times the poor first mate had had to deal with such destruction. "Ye seen Dals?" he piped up, "Last I saw 'er she was screamin' TALLYHO while ridin' that lad of yer's shoulders around. Gotta find 'er so she can get the crew t'try an' salvage some of this mess."

Aurelius, suddenly left standing alone, stared out at Emerson with a befuddled look. Had he said something wrong? What if he had upset Finn by bringing up the subject of fathers? Before he could fully exit the captain's quarters to follow the Wolf, he heard the first mate's complaints and blocked the doorway with both hands grabbing onto either side of the door frame, shaking his head in protest.
"No, that is not necessary! I will take care of the mess," he blurted, seeming embarrassed by the chaos strewn about within the room he shielded. The warrior shuddered at the thought of how to crew boss might react to the result of a were-tantrum that he had a minor hand in.
"Did you see where Finn had gone off to?" The warrior leaned forward, looking about the deck for his friend.
Emerson shrugged, waving the King off as if it was no big deal, despite the apparent size of the tornado that had plagued only Finn's quarters. He'd seen it enough times before. The Captain and the ignitable temper of his. He'd seen the way that boy struggled so hard to keep the lid on it, always wanting to lash out and punch a fella, but instead he'd just smile and crack wise. Infuriating, still, but he knew the damage Finn truly wished to do to those who set him off. Seen it first hand. Weren't pretty. "Ack, leave it, yer Kingly-ness," Emerson assured him, "We got attack plans for this sorta disarray. Pirate's life an' all, we'll just count our lucky stars when our were-Captain blows a cap only objects stand a hasty demise. Not once 'as Finny laid hands on his crew unlike many a vicious Pirate cursed with a temper. If a little mess is all we gotta handle, say it ain' so bad." Regarding the frantic look of the Warrior before him searching the deck. "Oh- he hustled 'et down the stairs like someone said 'free booze' down below," the first mate shrugged, really having no clue what all the chaos and running about was.
Still, it had only taken a second for the door among the floorboards to pop open and a thumbs up from a hand that wore far too many rings to be anyone else among the crew members than the flamboyant Captain in question, himself. "I got it!" His voice echoing of the walls just beneath the King and First mate's feet. Finn popped up, kicking the door shut behind him to run up to meet Aurelius, a very obvious bear claw now hanging from around his neck. "Oh, hey Ems- when'd you get here?" Finn questioned, clearly not having noticed that he'd come so close to flattening the older man's nose with the door during his swift exit. "Y-" Emry was about to scold Finn for it, but instead opted to pinch the bridge of his nose, "Nevermind. I gotta go find where that girl and that bloke of 'ers scampered of tuh." "Dali and Ku?" Finn asked, jerking a thumb over his shoulder at the door he'd just surface from, "Just saw those two downstairs asleep in her hammock. Well- curled up together anyways. Glad the girl finally found someone t'keep up, ay?" The Captain nudged his mate with his elbow, flashing the man a knowing and bright eyes smile. "Yeh." Emry grunted with a stiff nod as he turned to leave. He supposed he could let Dalia sleep a while longer before throwing her at that train wreck of a room.
"Bye Emsy-baby!" "Respectfully. Up yers, sir," Em shot back with a wave of his hand. Finn let loose a devious little snicker at how much he drove that man up a wall. He had far too much fun with it. Snapping his full focus back on Aurelius now that only the two men stood in the Captain's doorway. "Had t'go get it," he gestured to the necklace, clearly all too happy to show it off, if his wide grin were anything to attest to.

So these tantrums were commonplace on the Wolfsbane. Aurelius could still hear Finn's snarling and feel how the anger radiated off of him, touching the bruise on his chest where the Wolf had struck him. It was the first time he had witnessed that rage, but the temper of his dear friend made itself apparent the day he marched out of the water right past his warriors who were so excited to see him.
He immediately believed Emerson's claim that Finn had never done harm to his crew by way of that feral temper. Aur had seen many colors of the pirate captain in the short while that they've known each other, and if there was a hue that stood out the most, it was Finn's kindheartedness - accentuated by those lively cerulean eyes.
The Bear's own glacier blue eyes drifted to the trapdoor that was built into the deck, just as Finn burst out of it. He couldn't help but grin at the way the other man hurriedly approached him, all doe-eyed and pleased with himself. Aur's gaze dropped suddenly, so fixated on wanting to meet those ocean eyes that it took him a moment to identify exactly what was worn about the captain's neck.
As Finn spoke with his first mate, the words heard but drifting away with the breeze, Aur took the obsidian claw in his fingers, bouncing his digits to feel the pendant's weight, his grin widening. Then he placed it back against Finn's chest, his hand lingering over it.
"I like the way it looks on you." He placed his fingertips beneath Finn's chin now, taking a step back to get a full view. "I know that you will honor their spirits, my dear Pup."
Finn's face was grinning beneath the eyes of the Bear King, coy and bright and blazing with that mischievous glimmer of his. For whatever Wolf he held behind closed doors the Pup was alive and well. Devious and cunning, but also bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. To speak nothing of his tendencies to chase after bones.
It felt great to bask in the pride he felt emanating from Aurelius, swearing he thought he could feel that pride from Aur's family the warrior spoke of. Maybe he was just imagining it though, for want of a fatherly figure worth impressing. Then sobering thoughts of family. His face darkened, but the sadness upon it was not as anguished as it had once been, more accepting of the matter at hand. He still wasn't ready for this. For his Mother to be gone from this world, but he was ready to be strong enough to put his own pain aside to be present with her for what time he would have left. It still hurt, he knew it always would. And he would carry that pain same as all the others. Every soul that hung over him. Except hers would be the safe haven among the glares from the others. "We should get going," he grinned at Aur. A tight look of unease trying to be held together by a sense of duty. Parodying a version of words once spoken to Stroud that fateful day he'd spent at the beach with Aur, "Ungentlemanly to leave a good woman waiting, ay?"
The Pirate dipped into a slight, showy bow, holding his hand out with the palm facing upwards to wag his fingers in a languid, beckoning gesture, inviting the King to allow the Captain to guide him onward. "Your Highness," a singsong quality lacing the title.

Aurelius caught the moment when the joy left Finn's features, his fingers curling away from the pirate's chin to caress his brow instead, hoping to relieve some of the discomfort. As it was with Finn, playfulness disguised the inner turmoil, the Wolf's way of coping.
He took the hand presented to him, his grasp firm, wondering if the intention behind linking hands was for a purpose besides leading. Aur maneuvered his fingers to lace between Finn's, giving him a steady smile and a reassuring squeeze. The Bear King felt honored that Finn would allow him to remain at his side in this difficult time. Having lost loved ones of his own, he understood the value of someone being at your side, though he himself had had difficulty accepting comfort and support.
With his free hand, Aurelius pinched the fabric of his surcoat that covered his thighs, dipping into a very unladylike curtsy to play along with his dear Pup. "At your service," he cooed, trying to pretend that he didn't feel ridiculous.
That curtsy nearly was enough to get a soft, though short, laugh from the Ship's Captain. Somehow the image of the King now attempting a cutesy maneuver juxtaposed with the vicious snarl of the Bear who'd thrown his desk as if it weighed nothing was a ridiculous thing to picture, indeed. "You're a ridiculous man," The Wolf prodded with a look about him that spoke to just how much he relished the gesture, "It's one of the many things I adore about you." Alas, however, it was time to relinquish his foothold upon his ship to return to his rightful place as a Son clasping his mother's hand through her current struggles. The path to the tavern that was so attached to every aspect of his childhood. And people wondered why he had a drinking problem. There was something different in the air, inside, however. Again Finn felt something new in the air, something wrong. Familiar? Maybe? He couldn't figure out what it was. Like a scent he knew all too well and yet not at all. The presence of another were, perhaps? He didn't understand though, because his initial meeting with Aur had not caused such notions or sensations. What was it?
"Lad," the voice like a warning from his old friend, Freddy. His eyes met the man who was approaching him at a swift speed, a worried look a cause for unrest in Finn's stomach. "Lad, y-" he cast an anxious glance towards the hallway leading to Brigid, more unease burdened the Captain. "Y'should really come back and see Brig later. Now's not a good time fer 'er." "Fred, what is it?" "She's just not... You can't-" The older man struggled to find a viable reason alternative to the truth. Finn's face fell into a look of unamusement, dodging past the hulking individual. Just as he reached the entrance to the back hallway the smell became overwhelming. Dominating. Every instinct in Finn's body on alert as if he were truly a dog with hackles raised. The few steps he took backing away from the hall were like an invisible forcefield trying to keep him at bay, feeling the undeniable to bare fangs.
A figure like an omen appearing from around the corner. He didn't know how he knew, why he knew, but he knew. The weird feeling he was having, the way Freddy tried to keep him out, the fact that he'd come from his mother's room. It was like ice in his veins. "You." The word a curse all it's own coming from the wolf with enough venom to stun a Rhino. Nails pointing like sharpened claws, teeth following suit in a barred snarl. Whatever recognition Finn felt. The other man did too. But where Finn looked ready to tear this man's still beating heart from his chest, the fellow, with a jawline and form bearing a striking resemblance to the Wolfsbane's Captain, merely appeared bemused by the notion. "Pleasure to meet you. Son."

Ridiculous wasn't a word that Aurelius often heard used to describe his character, but coming from Finn…he didn't mind it. He gave the pirate a scrutinizing smirk, guessing that "ridiculous" was often used to describe his jovial companion - never should it be any other way with those eyes, those wiggly brows, and fingers festooned with gemstones. How the Bear adored his ridiculous Wolf in return.
The lighthearted feeling seemed to fade with every step they took further from the Wolfsbane as they neared the Siren's Song. It was understandable - what lied ahead was no easy reality to face, especially when it comes to a son's dying mother. However, Aur was sensing a change in Finn's behavior as they entered the tavern, Frederic's warning tone solidifying whatever it was that was enticing the captain to seem more alert and anxious.
In this time of struggle that his dear Pup faced, Aurelius continued to uphold his position of guardian, staying near. This protective nature he had for Finn amplified as he followed him to the hallway, his own beast within suddenly gnawing at the seams to be released. Protect him! From what? Something foul lurks here!
The figure that rounded the corner and the red that enveloped Finn was answer enough, but the warrior truly understood after examining the man, after hearing his words.
Son? Did that frolicking pile of fecal matter really just call him "Son"? Finn felt his anger alone might make the wolf burst free from his skin, he knew it wasn't possible, but he could feel it giving its all to tear through the human on the surface and make mince meat pies out of "Daddy dearest". He'd heard the phrase "seeing red" before and never quite grasped how literal of a meaning the phrase could have. He didn't even know when he'd crossed the room, but he clearly had, only registering as much when his fist, once sailing through the air, collided with the older wolf's palm, catching it before it could strike, clearly unfazed by the anger flooding from his estranged son. If anyone knew what it was like to live with a feral wolf for a spirit, it was the man who'd had a minor hand in the production of Finneas. The spirits were alike though, perhaps that feeling only served to piss Finn off even more, however. "The fuhck d'ya think y'are!?"Finn snarled, his voice deeper, more gravelly, more like an animal. What Finn's father had not been expecting, however, was just how dirty his boy was willing to fight when skull cracked against skull in a vicious headbutt that had the older man staggering back clutching at a bloodied nose. The Wolfsbane's Captain was like a Hound sent from Hell in the heat and rage that came off him in waves, the crazed look of murder shinning wide as a thin trail of blood trickled around his gaze from a cut over his eye caused by his reckless headbutt, but damn if it hadn't felt liberating. "Finneas!" Freddy shouted, trying to stop the two wolves from shredding each other...or bringing the bar down around them, but his words would not break the ringing in the younger wolf's ears, turning instead to usher the patrons and workers out the door, for their own safety as well as Finn's.
"Pleased to meet you too," the older of the two wolves said, wiping blood from his face. The quaint smile only adding fuel to Finn's fire. Everything he did just angered the Captain more. He wanted to rip his tongue from his throat just to make him shut the hell up. Another punch, again he was ready for it, moving to the side to let the clenched fingers instead puncture a hole through the wall behind him. "Fin-" he tried to placate the younger, only for a knee to collide with his lower stomach knocking the wind from the older wolf who doubled over to clutch at his stomach, looking as if he might be ill. A look of pain that let a victorious exhale pass Finn's lips, pleased to see his "Dad" hurting as much as he'd been hurt. And then blinding pain radiating out from the side of his face. He hadn't expected the guy to recover so soon, catching Finn off guard with a right hook to the side of his face. The force of the blow sending the Pup flying into the wall, catching himself against the smooth surface to stop from sliding to the ground, though he rather wanted to. If his wolf was strong, his old man's felt near twice that. A man far more in balance with his beast than his son.

A stifling feeling of calm wrenched control from the bear inside, stopping Aurelius mid-stride as he was about to make his way into the quarrel between the two wolves. He watched the father and son exchange blows, eyes narrowing into an unsatisfied glare. From behind, he could hear the patrons of the tavern being ushered out by Frederic, some of them sounding as though they were already placing bets on the violent hallway brawl.
When Finn crashed into the wall, a glimmer of light dancing across the obsidian claw caught Aur's attention, a memory of grey sky and damp earth surfacing from many years ago.
The bodies of slain raiders lay disarrayed in mud and wet grass, the red of spilled blood adding vibrancy to the dully colored scene.
"Have you a death wish, my son?"
A younger Aur, held in the forceful embrace of his father, glared past fur cloak and golden locks of hair. "Dying on the battlefield is a warrior's death," he retorted, hands clenched at his sides.
As the hug tightened around him, tears swelled in Aur's eyes. He was ashamed of his father for always being so dismissive of the warrior code that he so cherished. The cub wanted nothing more than to achieve glory on the battlefield, to have his story told across all the lands.
"You are my child first," his father whispered, raising one hand to stroke his son's hair. "And a brother, a friend - all before a warrior, Aurelius."
"I am nothing if not a warrior!" Aurelius shouted, slapping his father's hand away and shoving him hard, the obsidian claw that the older man wore shifting and shimmering with the rays of light that pierced the clouds overhead. "I am a warrior!"
Waking from his recollection, the Bear found himself standing over the man that claimed to be Finn's father, both of his hands curled into tight fists in the fabric of the shirt that he wore. As his icy gaze bore down on the man so similar in appearance to his Pup, he spoke, the words meant for Finn.
"There is something you need to do. You can tear this man apart after." His voice was not suggesting, it was commanding and seething, growled through bared fangs.
