Aurelius closed his eyes against Finn's touch. His breathing slowly evened out as his head was gently turned to the side, the pirate's benevolence persistently sapping at the aggression that still swelled within the Bear's heart. With each breath, the scent of the rolling sea reshaped the world around him, of the wolf-vessel that carried him like a valiant steed. By the grace of those fingers decorated with gemstones, Aur found his way back to the deck of the Wolfsbane.
“Yes, I... You...”
But his weighted words were smothered out by the cry of the crew boss. When Aur moved to be at his warrior's side, he nearly stumbled over the corpse at his feet, having forgotten its presence in his alarmed state. The gore of the dead thug's shredded neck reminded him of that springtime night under the full moon.
Kukinta tried to respond, wanting to comfort his darling whose eyes enticed golden dawns to every new day, but he could only manage a hiss through clenched teeth as a protest against the pain. He would be damned if he did not wake to a new day with Dalia's sunny eyes upon him.
“I'm here, ya cursed orphan. You'll not be dyin' on yer woman this day.” The rumbling and guttural tone of his king's voice lulled his senses into a more relaxed state as Aurelius knelt to nuzzle his nose against Kukinta's. “Keep yer hand pressed like that – don't ease up just yet.” Ku's consciousness chased after Aur's words as his eyes sought out Dalia. Dawn was approaching dusk as the edges of his vision blackened.
Gently, Aurelius cradled Kukinta in his arms, standing to follow Finn with fervently paced strides.
