CHARLOTTE RUBY DURHAM
Name: Charlotte Durham
Nickname/Alias: Char
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Race: Water Element
Rank: Princess
Play-by: Jenessa Grant
As second-born of the Royal children, Charlotte has been groomed from an early age to act as a liaison between the Royal household and the 'common' folk, and as a diplomat to foreign visitors, greeting them and making sure that they have what they need.
Fortunately, it is a position to which she is well-suited, having an inquisitive and temperate nature. She loves meeting new people and learning about their ways, how different races think and act, what they eat and wear, how they live...Patient, willing to listen and learn, gentle with an easy-going manner, she can make acquaintances easily, although she only has a very few close friends, as she is protective of her personal information and a little wary of others' motives...after all, having connections to the Royal family can come with valuable perks, and Charlotte is afraid that people want her as a 'friend' merely for those.
Despite her even and quiet nature, there is a mischievous to her, and she has been known (or suspected) of any number of practical jokes, many that she gets away with, since no one would ever suspect her. Even so, she draws the line at letting others get blamed for her actions.
She loves riding her horse, climbing trees, running barefoot in the rain and singing from the parapets at the top of her lungs! In a pinch, she can be a fierce 'mama-bear', challenging anyone who is trying to harm an innocent, be that Human or beast, although she is by no means a warrior.
Being of Royal blood, a good deal of her life was scripted out, spent learning manners, etiquette, languages and arts, things that make a 'lady proper'. But there was the welcome relief of more physical pursuits such as riding, dancing and defense, things that Charlotte took to avidly.
For the most part she was an obedient child, doing as she was told, afraid of the disappointment she'd cause if she stepped out of line. But shortly after her father died when she was seven one of the stable-hand's sons encouraged her to go into town with him, to leave the comfort of the palace disguised as a boy. Despite misgivings, she went along with the plan and had such a fun time that it became a regular occurrence, giving her a chance to learn first-hand about the people of their land.
A few years later, when her companion in crime was stricken by illness, Charlotte's transgressions were discovered when she dragged her mother, the Queen, and sister to town to help. And while many of the townsfolk were saved, her friend succumbed, leaving her spirit crushed for a time. But eventually, she started again with her trips to town, this time alone, often with the approval of family, but occasionally clandestinely, just because she likes being independent.
Charlotte gets along well with her siblings, although there are the usual spats, that she responds to by crying or laughing, depending on the situation, either tactic working well for her! And she is more than happy that the issue of marriage is focused on her older sister...she has silly notions of falling in love, and not getting married for the sake of being married.
