With the lacking energy flowing into his veins, Alek felt as if he might collapse from emotional exhaustion. The day was currently transitioning into the evening and Alek couldn't be any more agitated. He had fought many battles with severe injuries, grappled with bandits in the mountains with brute strength alone, decimated the numbers of seafaring invaders that attempt to bring harm to his beloved country, and yet this... this was more exhausting. An entire evening spent in the company of the nobility.
Goddess save him.
It was a messy ordeal and while Alek would have preferred not his men in the situation, the orders had been firm that he would personally oversee the safety and security of Lady Victoria for the duration of the evening.
With that, Alek obeyed. Reluctantly.
The noblewoman in question was deeply immersed in conversation with a dozen of Atelus' most wanted bachelors. The red dress while beautiful formed a bit too close to her curves to preserve her modesty; though it word was to be believed, Lady Victoria was a known to indulge in such dalliances. The guardsman lingered at a polite distance, hand on the hilt of his sword, looking aloof even as he remained on high alert.
"Alexander, darling, would you see about getting a room for my... friends, and I?
Friends? As in plural? echoed in his thoughts, in utter dismay. Lady Victoria couldn't mean to... with three men? How did that even... No, she must've meant that he seek accommodations for each of them. Alek paused, waiting a moment to see if she offered further instruction. His heart sank when she merely offered a coy smile and turned back to her so-declared friends.
Alek exhaled deeply. Perhaps her father's worries for her health were more valid than he'd been led to believe.
"Yes, m'lady." is all he answers in a voice void of emotion. The missaying of his name was politely ignored. If anything, he's a bit touched she managed to almost remember it correct. Most of the nobility didn't waste time on such things; he was referred to as Captain or Queensguard often enough that he answered to it.
Turning to look back at the lady once more, Alek ran his fingers through his hair before he went off in search of the front desk. He kept Lady Victoria in his peripheral as he exit the gambling hall, looking out of place among the masses. The embroidery on his uniform was simple and while superior in craftsmanship than the average foot soldier, it lacked the same flare showcased in all the posh folk that inhabit this establishment.
The desk was empty, however he spied a woman nearby and lightly tapped on her shoulder to draw her attention. "Would you 'appen to know who de manager o' this estableshment is?" Alek inquired, taking great care with his pronunciations.
