Personality: Basil is quiet and reserved. She is unnaturally naïve and innocent for age – she was raised by her overly-protective father, who kept her rather sheltered from the outside world. Being the only one of her kind and without a mother, she has always felt out of place in the world. She is deeply connected to nature, more so than to other people, enjoying the peace, quiet, and beauty of the flora around her.

Despite her father’s sheltering, she does not resent him. She doesn’t have a mean or violent bone in her body, and easily forgives others even to a fault. Someone who believes in the good in everyone and every situation, she is persistent in her belief of other people.

History: The only known vampire/human hybrid, she was born instead of created into a line of vampire nobility.

Her mother of course did not survive her birth, leaving her to be raised by her overly-protective vampire father.

Basil was not often allowed to wander outside her father’s grounds, becoming a reserved and quiet child, but always well-behaved and eager to please. Her father often kept her out of sight of other visiting noble families, she was quite the secret, however some did manage to catch glimpses of her.

Being the only one of her kind meant she had to be protected, and also meant that she had to discover her abilities on her own. For the most part she takes after her father; she is stronger and faster than humans, although not as much so as a full vampire. Basil shares the same healing abilities of her vampire heritage, and although she seemed to age regularly as a young child, it has slowed as she came into her teenage years. It is predicted that she will live a life quite a bit longer than that of a human’s, but it is unclear if she is truly immortal when it comes to aging. Her father is hoping that since her aging began to slow as she approached adulthood, it will soon stop completely. Although she is able to go longer stretches of time without blood, and is able to eat regular food, she does still require the red substance. As someone that hates the idea of anyone hurting, she has drank only animal blood from a young age. Even that makes her queasy, loving animals as much as anything/anyone else. Instead, she counts on human food to keep the cravings away and her body satiated; keeping a vegetarian human diet since she does not wish to kill anymore creatures that she already has to just by being alive.

She has now reached the age of legality, and has been given a bit more freedom after begging her father to allow her to prove her ability to take care of herself now that she is of age.

Starting off with an official introduction into noble society. The entire kingdom will now know of her hybrid existence whereas before she was simply a rumor spread by those that had visited and caught a glimpse of the not-quite-human-not-quite-vampire girl.
