Just how long had it been since Lien had set foot in this very port? at least fourty years... but today's plans had not been her choice. The captain she had been working on decided to port here, and since it was the end of her contract on the ship... Lien had open waters ahead of herself. Her brown hair was actually down, flowing freely about her shoulders as she walked down the dock and kept her dark magenta eyes peeled for any sign of trouble.
The weather was quite nice despite the sun setting in the distance, bringing in the chill of night air. She liked this weather even if she didn't care for the place itself. Especially at the end of the dock... where she swore she could still make out the blood stain in the wood that had once been her father's. No... she couldn't look. She wouldn't look. That memory was far gone and this was a new time and place. She had to push forward away from the docs and a bit deeper into the town.
Her loose dark grey top did a lot to hide the wings she had folded behind her, along with the black baggy coat and black baggy pants that were tucked into her black boots. She looked crumpled and rather average among the Ladies of the night painted up like dolls and standing on the dock to get attention from the sailors coming in with their checks. She didn't judge... a woman had to earn her keep but Lien preferred her partners to be not be swayed away from her by a dollar difference.
But the evening was young! She had a great savings from working so hard aboard the last ship, and so now all she wanted was the finest of red meats and the sweetest of meads.... and maybe something indulgent for dessert. Luck shimmied her way as the smell of something absolutely amazing wafted through the air. It made her stomach roar in want, and she happily followed the smell to a smaller inn with a small dining area to the side. "Single night, and some dinner." Lien's voice was calm and soft, the young lady working behind the desk with bright red hair did catch Lien's attention... as the girl's skin was rather flawlessly creamy and covered in freckles. For a moment Lien's mind wandered where else those freckles were as she passed over some coin to her for the chance to stay the night at their business.
The young girl didn't seem to notice how she had caught Lien's eye... and instead led her into the quiet dining room. Lien had to question why such a business wouldn't have more patrons but she learned quickly... they were out of mead. No booze with sailors mean no business. But Lien always had a back up plan for booze. "Gimme a fine slab of rare beef and a good helping of whatever fresh shelled fish you have with some good spice." Lien passed some more coin to pay for the bill, then sat at the table before flopping her old bag down by her feet.
A quick rummage through her bag produced a beautiful crystal blue bottle. Lien's own personal reserve. She set it upon the table and relaxed back in her chair... the first night back on land ways always the hardest for her as the rock of the ship had always
