Atelus is an island kingdom, currently ruled by a queen; Sophia Durham. She was the eldest child of the former King and Queen.
There are two younger royal children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Alexander.
The former Queen passed away a year ago, after a short battle with an unknown illness.
Currently Atelus is at peace with it's neighboring kingdoms.
The country is very progressive and welcoming - no one really bats an eye at the other races among the humans, especially since the ruling family are water elementals. This also relates to relationships within the nation as well, there is no disdain for who people love.
Gender roles are not really well defined in Atelus, with women taking strong roles - the ruler of the country is a queen of course! There are also women in the military and other high ranks in Atelus.
The country is fairly well off, so in general the people of Atelus are very well taken care of. Most homes have their own baths, though the water is pumped from a a well. The houses themselves are on the smaller side, though spacious enough for a decent size family.
Religion in the realm is normally fairly important to the people, with almost everyone believing in the God and Goddess. Festivals are usually held throughout the year, at the Festival Square in Taras, with all of Atelus being invited. These usually are in honor of the God and Goddess, but can be other celebrations as well.
Atelus has a few different industries, depending on where you are at in the kingdom.
Most of the towns have taverns for visitors to stay at, though it is more encouraged in Taras, Moten, and Rixitos than the other towns. Each town has a mayor, that governs with direct input from the Queen.
Slavery is not allowed in Atelus, having been banned many years ago. Though there are underpaid servants in some parts of the nation, this is very frowned upon as well.
Pets are common in the realm, mostly dogs and cats, though there have been rabbits or ferrets as well. Rarer animals may be owned by the nobility or royals. Horses are common as well, being the primary mode of transportation besides walking.
The military have many different posts throughout Atelus, mostly in towns but sometimes in the countryside as well. They keep the peace of the nation. There is also a large navy, since it is an island nation, that is stationed in Moten.
Atelus is lit by candles, as there is no electricity in the country.
Guns have been invented, though they are fairly rudimentary.

Atelus has a few different industries, depending on where you are at in the kingdom.
- Taras, the capital, is not really known for anything specific, but with a bunch of small shops and the like, there's always coin flowing in and out of it.
- Moten is the shipbuilding port, where many of the military ships for the nation are built. The city is fairly outgoing and welcoming, though they have to be wary of pirates attempting to steal ships that have been built there.
- Itabotu is where the clothing of the realm comes from. There are plentiful fields of cotton around this area, which is what most of the clothing of the kingdom is made from. The farms are run by wealthy men and women, and they hire people to work on their farms. It's a rather closed off society.
- Rixitos is where the food of the realm is grown or ranched. Most of the grain and corn for the kingdom is grown here, as well as cattle, pigs, and chickens being ranched. More fanciful items of food are usually traded for with other nations.
- Sunama is the mining town, up across the mountains. The gold, silver, and gems for the realm are mined here. Since it is over the mountains not many people come and go from here, and the people that live here are very happy with that.
- Ziorang is generally not spoken about, but this is the pirate city on a small island near Atelus. Technically part of the kingdom, many of the royals have tried to stamp this island out only to be met with fierce fighting from the pirates there.
