That admission made the muscle in Finn's chest beat out of rhythm as his fingers curled around the other's to pull him up, holding to him tightly and pulling him close as they makd their way down the narrow walkway.
How did this man know just the things to say to pierce the gaps in the Pirate's armor? It was like he was a deft hunter and Finn the awaiting buck that didn't stand a chance against the sharp eyes of the one who sought to pierce through him. It scared him, in the best possible way.
"Jump in after me?" he tried to alleviate the tension he felt beneath the cage of his ribs, "I'm half fish, there's no need to fear. The water is my lady!"
They stepped to the dock and Finn waited until they were safely from the water's edge to loosen his grip and stand before his newfound friend. Though, friend felt almost too flimsy a word for the swell he felt when he gazed at the other man.
"I have never appreciated a sentiment more, however."
His eyes searching Kendry's gaze before assuring himself of his next course of action.
He'd wanted to repeat the gesture ever since sparks had flown through his face behind the walls of his cabin. His lips pressed to the other's, quickly, briefly, the gesture a fast peck more than anything but he'd never been good at quelling his impulsive nature. He was sure Kendry had witnessed that much by this point, given the factors that led to their meeting in the first place.
"I had to do that at least one more time before you faded from view," the Captain of the crimson sailboat admitted.
"Consider it a wish of good luck."
Though he hoped those words were true and it was not him shedding a speck of his curse to the other making what was meant as a desire for good become an omen of ill-will to haunt Kendry on his trip to Sunama.
Stay.
That blasted voice of greed screaming in his mind to hold on to the mercenary before him and never let him go. But he knew that's not how people were to be treated. Not if you truly cared for them, as he did for this man. Finn was one who needed to be free and as such would put no one else in a cage like a bird with clipped wings, a barbaric practice. Birds belonged in the sky as much as he belonged on the ocean.
"You take care of whatever it is you need to do, but then you get your ass back here. Fast." A grin like a Cheshire cat curling the wolf's lips.
"I don't like being kept waiting. Not a man known for his patience, and if I have to come hunt you down-- and don't think I won't."
He leveled a finger at Kendry, "I will be very cross, indeed."
