Sophia nodded again as he spoke of the items they had down, thinking about looking through her mothers stuff again. She looked back over at Kendry as he spoke about the party at the castle not really working out. She frowned and sighed, nodding after a moment. "I suppose you're probably right, there's not a way to keep people safe, or keep the castle safe, if we open it up like that." But he spoke of a festival... maybe that could work.
When he spoke again, she glanced away, looking down at her hands and frowning slightly. It was probably true, that she didn't really need all of this on her plate. But she also thought the people of Atelus deserved some happiness and fun after her mother's death.
A small gathering at the palace sounded.. nice. But she really wanted more.
"Perhaps we could just do the festival instead. All of the things we planned could just be moved to the festival grounds, and then everyone could attend." There was a booth at the festival square that the royalty usually spent their time in, and she could sort of participate while there as well. It wasn't quite a ball, but there could be dancing and the like.

Kendry snapped his fingers, a spark igniting momentarily between his thumb and index finger. "That's it! That makes the job easier, then, wouldn't you say? If anyone can attend, anyone can offer their goods - food, drink, music, all of it coming together on its own." A pleased sigh escaped his lips as he returned the glass with the others, looking them over as if they were blueprints. "Can't say why I was over-complicating the matter," he huffed, rolling his eyes at himself.
The grin that he wore dropped into a frown as he began to mull over something, eyes dancing across the rim of each glass as if he were looking for something that he needed, as if the empty vessels held it. "That certainly frees up a lot of time," he mused, scratching at his chin. "That being the case…do you think…?"
What he needed was bravery.
"I mean, there must be a spot where we can at least look at the water," he offered with a sheepish shrug, giving Sophia a hopeful smile.

Sophia brightened when Kendry spoke, the fact that they could just invite people to set up, and there would be a lot of options for people. The kingdom would pay for it all, of course, that way people could have free entertainment and the like.
She shrugged when he spoke though. "I was as well, this should work very nicely. Being out in the open like this would be much better. Everyone can enjoy it this way."
When he spoke of it freeing up time, Sophia nodded again, looking over at Kendry once more. He spoke of the water, and that made her even more excited. It wasn't like she had ventured out there that often..
She glanced at her two guards, who just shrugged a little. They'd go with her, if that was what she wanted. They had less to plan now, but should she go? She probably should get back to the castle and work on other things. But.. she didn't want to.
"I think that would be fantastic, Kendry." She smiled softly. "We could head to the beach?"

The beach.
Just the thought of is made his gut churn with anxiety.
His smile twitched, and he broke eye contact with Sophia, his teeth grinding together in a moment of contemplation. The mercenary wasn't going to let himself back out of this - he made a promise to the Queen, though it had been made only hours before, he intended on keeping it.
Running my damn mouth off before thinking, he cursed himself, forcing a smile to hide his worry as he turned back to Sophia.
"If you feel that your safety is at risk at any time, we will leave," he reassured her, wanting to laugh mockingly at himself for being the one who was afraid.
